Visa route by Turkish passport type
For a Turkish ordinary (burgundy) passport, a visa is required for a short visit to Russia. Turkey is on Russia’s unified e-visa list, so an eligible traveler may use the official e-visa route for a qualifying purpose; a regular visa is the other consular route. A Turkish special (green) or service passport has a separate short visa-free rule, and a diplomatic passport has another. If your passport and this trip meet the visa-free conditions, do not pay for a tourist visa. Check your actual passport and trip before choosing a route.

Which passport and purpose?
This answer concerns Turkish citizenship and the passport used to travel, not residence in Turkey or a departure airport. The Turkish authority calls a special passport hususi (yeşil) and an ordinary passport umuma mahsus. Work, study, residence, Russian citizenship, existing Russian status, transit-only travel and professional crew or driver exceptions need their own assessment.

The passport routes
- Ordinary (burgundy) passport
Visa required. For a qualifying short visit, check the unified e-visa; if its conditions do not fit, check the regular consular visa route.
- Special (green) or service passport
The Russian MFA lists visa-free entry for up to 30 days. The Turkish MFA also states an overall 90 days in any 180-day period. Check your exact document and trip conditions with the official authorities.
- Diplomatic passport
The Russian MFA lists a separate visa-free stay of up to 90 days; this is not the ordinary-passport route.
Tourism, business and other purposes
The unified e-visa covers a qualifying private or business visit, tourism and the listed event purposes. It is single entry, valid for 120 days after issue, with a permitted stay of at most 30 days counted under the official day-counting rule. It is not the answer for work, study or residence. If the e-visa purpose or conditions do not fit, consult the Russian consular route.

Apply through the shared official route
Read the shared e-visa application steps, document checklist and stay and validity rules. The official instructions require an account application 86–4 days before expected entry and travel through an approved crossing point. Check the official crossing-point list in the MFA instructions. Use those shared instructions for the application steps.

Medical insurance for the e-visa route
The Russian MFA’s e-visa instruction calls for medical insurance valid in Russia for the whole stay, subject to specified reciprocity exceptions. This page does not establish a Turkish-specific exemption or a policy price. Read the shared insurance guide and check the official rule for the selected route.

Common questions from Turkish travelers
Does Russia require a visa for a Turkish ordinary (burgundy) passport?
Yes. The Turkish MFA says the ordinary passport is visa-required. Eligible short visits may use Russia’s unified e-visa; other cases need the appropriate consular route. Checked 13 October 2026. Turkish MFA visa list · Russian MFA e-visa list
Does a Turkish green passport need a Russian tourist visa?
The green passport is the Turkish special (hususi) passport. For this passport class, the Russian MFA lists a visa-free stay of up to 30 days; the Turkish MFA adds the 90-in-180-day overall limit. This rule does not apply to an ordinary passport. Checked 13 October 2026. Passport classification · Russian entry conditions · Turkish MFA rule
What is the Russia visa fee for a Turkish passport?
First identify whether the passport and trip need a visa. The official instruction charges for processing a unified e-visa application; applications for children under six are exempt from the consular fee. A payment made for processing is non-refundable regardless of the application result. This page has not verified a current Turkey-specific total, currency, child application total or regular-visa consular tariff. Check the official e-visa payment step or the competent Russian consulate. Government charges, optional assistance and insurance prices are separate. Checked 13 October 2026. How can a Turkish ordinary-passport holder apply?
For a qualifying visit, start from the official Russian MFA e-visa instructions and account. If your purpose, passport or dates fall outside that route, use the appropriate Russian consular visa instructions. An e-visa application is submitted before entry, not at the border.
