When this guidance applies
This guidance concerns a national passport, a qualifying short visit and travel without Russian citizenship or a special status. Work, study, residence, unusual documents and a transit-only journey require a separate assessment.

Start with the route
For eligibility and the shared route conditions, read the unified e-visa overview.
From preparation to the decision
Check the official nationality list and confirm that your actual purpose and passport fit the route. Use the current official instructions.
Prepare the required digital images and passport. No invitation or booking confirmation is required for the e-visa application, but the form still asks for your intended accommodation. See the face-photo checklist and illustrative example.
Create your own account on the official e-visa portal. Enter the details accurately and check them against the passport before submitting. The Russian MFA recommends avoiding Gmail for registration and notifications because messages may be delayed. If possible, use another address you can access, and check status in your official personal account.
Pay through the official workflow. Keep the government charge separate from any optional assistance and insurance cost.
Return to your account to read requests for corrections. Use the application-status guide to understand the labels, correction requests and decision PDF. Sending corrected information restarts the processing clock.
Download and read the decision. If the visa is granted, keep the notification printed or on your device for your carrier and border control.
The regular visa form portal prepares a consular application form. It is a different process from the unified e-visa portal.

Before you continue
Review your passport, dates and the insurance conditions. Work or study plans need a separate route; no application or insurance purchase is offered on this page.
Official sources
Keep the costs separate
Government charge: check the amount and payment currency in the official application. A consular-fee exemption for a child under 6 does not establish that all payment charges are waived.
Assistance fee: no paid application service is available here yet.
Medical insurance: priced separately under the insurer’s terms; no quote is available here.
The official portal states that processing payments are non-refundable irrespective of the decision.
